Applications are closed.

Past Plein Air events were a great success, and we eagerly look forward to another opportunity to showcase a host of the most talented landscape artists in the Hudson Valley.

Beginning at Mohonk Preserve’s Testimonial Gateway Trailhead in New Paltz, the artists will be stationed along the tree-lined Pin Oak Allee, Lenape Lane, and the Ridgeview Trail, part of the Mohonk Preserve Foothills Loop of the River-to-Ridge Trail. This breathtaking landscape features the historic Testimonial Gateway Tower and sweeping views of the Shawangunk Ridge and surrounding Mohonk Preserve Foothills fields and historic farms.

Visitors will have the chance to view artists working while enjoying the outdoors and finding their own inspiration on the land. The event is open to Mohonk Preserve members at no charge and to visitors with the purchase of a day pass for $15 per person. The event is expected to run from 10 am to 3 pm.

The in-process and finished paintings and drawings will be photographed throughout the day by volunteer photographers from Mohonk Preserve and Roost Studios. The finished works will be included in an online auction following the event. All finished work will be displayed at the Mohonk Preserve Visitors Center immediately following the event in their new gallery space. The exhibition will continue during the month of June with a closing reception for artists and online bidders.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit participating artists, Mohonk Preserve and Roost

Arts Hudson Valley.

Space is limited so artists will be asked to apply, and if selected, will then be notified by April 30, 2024, and asked to register. There is no cost to apply and a minimal cost of $25 to register if selected.
