Saturday, October 10, 2026
(Rain Date: Sunday, October 11, 2026)
Application due date: July 30, 2026
Plein Air is back at Mohonk Preserve in 2026! Mohonk Preserve and Roost Arts Hudson Valley will collaborate once again for the fifth Plein Air Art Walk and Online Auction, an inspirational project connecting land, art and community. Each piece of art is created at Mohonk Preserve’s Testimonial Gateway Trailhead in New Paltz.

Beginning at Mohonk Preserve’s Testimonial Gateway Trailhead in New Paltz, the artists will be stationed along the tree-lined Pin Oak Allee, Lenape Lane, and the Ridgeview Trail, part of the Mohonk Preserve Foothills Loop of the River-to-Ridge Trail. This breathtaking landscape features the historic Testimonial Gateway Tower and sweeping views of the Shawangunk Ridge and surrounding Mohonk Preserve Foothills fields and historic farms.
Visitors will have the chance to view artists working while enjoying the outdoors and finding their own inspiration on the land. The event is open to Mohonk Preserve members at no charge and to visitors with the purchase of a day pass for $20 per person. Children 16 and under are free. The event is expected to run from 10 am to 3 pm.
Completed art will be photographed and will be on display and available for online bidding at the Mohonk Preserve Visitor Center, 3197 Route 44 55, Gardiner, New York until November 1. A closing reception will take place on Sunday, November 1st from 3 – 5 pm. The public is invited to meet the artists and place final bids! Proceeds from the auction will benefit participating artists, Mohonk Preserve and Roost Arts Hudson Valley.

Space is limited so artists will be asked to apply, and if selected, will then be notified by September 1, 2026 and asked to register. There is no cost to apply and a minimal cost of $25 to register and confirm your participation if selected.
