My background in comics and satire taught me how powerful visual storytelling can be. It’s something I try to infuse into my sculpture, because I believe stories can inspire and connect us. For my barn wood landscapes, I use the natural knots, grain, and decay in the wood to create vast, meditative environments. My shadow boxes are inspired by comic book panels. They utilize clay, scrap wood, machine parts, and other found objects that challenge a viewer to fill in the narrative. By repurposing materials that might otherwise be discarded, I strive to transform them into works of art with new meaning and purpose.
