Jill Ziccardi
Jill Ziccardi was born in Freeport, NY and grew up in Farmingdale in a traditional Italian working class family, but got hooked on art as a teenager and has been painting ever since. She studied at Carnegie Mellon for her BFA in Art (Painting/Printmaking with honors) and was awarded a full-tuition merit scholarship to pursue her MFA in Painting from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
While maintaining an active studio practice and exhibition schedule, Ziccardi spent 25+ years working in arts education and program development in academia, as a painting professor, museum educator and arts non-profit leader.
After countless years of city-living, Ziccardi bought a house in 2010 in upstate NY, and has been inspired ever since by what grows on her property, as her paintings reference her domain; symbolic and bucolic settings occupied by local plants and species, fruit orchards, and the like.
Ziccardi is an accomplished artist, a passionate educator and a do-gooder, and has been exhibiting her work locally and nationally for decades. She currently lives/works in Highland, NY in the Hudson Valley.
