Jerry Teters

Jerry Teters is an artist and drummer who has combined his love of these two expressions for more than three decades. Jerry holds a Masters in Painting from the State University of New York at New Paltz. He was born in Long Branch, NJ and currently lives in New Paltz, NY.
From 1984-1990, Jerry studied painting and drawing in New York City at Pratt Institute, the Art Students League, the National Academy of Design and privately with illustrator Burton Silverman. In the mid-1990s, Jerry and his family moved to the mid-Hudson Valley where he also worked as a middle and high school art teacher.
Of an exhibition at the Woodstock Art Association, the Woodstock Times wrote, “In Teters’ paintings, the horizon lines swing… ascending curves or diagonal lines invoke rhythms and poly-rhythms, while small squares or dots of color provide point and counterpoint in an equivalence of musical and non-objective visual form that has been around as long as abstraction has been in art and in earlier Bauhaus.”
Jerry's work is abstract and inviting at the same time, just what you'd want hanging in your room, so you can contemplate it endlessly while neither "getting it" nor ever getting bored." Alice B. Fogel, Poet Laureate of New Hampshire.
A hallmark of his Jerry’s work is his ability—and willingness—to create pieces on commission according to a client’s design, color and size preferences. His paintings, prints, and mixed medium works are owned by many private collectors and have been exhibited in group and one-person shows in New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and throughout the Hudson Valley.
