Daniel Gussack

i am an abstract painter originally from long island, now living and creating in new paltz.
my work is a deeply personal journey, rooted in the emotional landscapes of my past and the serene yet dynamic environment of my current home.

each piece contains many layers of acrylic paint, serving as a visual diary where i

can express emotions through color.

this layered approach is both a reflection of my inner world and a response to the natural textures and rhythms that surround me.

my technique is a deliberate fusion of control and spontaneity.
i blend a method of deliberately applied paint, with a contrasting technique of forcefully thrown paint.

this dynamic interplay allows me to capture the tension between order and chaos, a theme that resonates through my practice.

my process is as much about discovery as it is about creation.
i begin with an idea, or feeling allowing it to evolve as i layer and throw paint onto the canvas.

this organic development often leads to unexpected outcomes as i embrace part of the narrative.
through this work, i seek to bridge my personal history with a universal human experience, offering a space where emotion and imagination can coexist and flourish.
